LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the community to its monthly Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) virtual educational meeting on Monday, November 10, at 7:00 p.m. EST via Zoom.
This month’s featured speakers are John C. Hunting, MD, and Sarah N. Price, PhD, both from Wake Forest Baptist Health. Together with colleagues, Drs. Hunting and Price recently co-authored the study “Survival impact of immune-related adverse events in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer patients: a retrospective cohort study.” During the presentation, they will share insights and key findings from their research, which found that immune-related adverse events during immunotherapy were associated with significantly longer progression-free and overall survival.
Dr. Hunting is an internal medicine physician at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and is completing his Internal Medicine residency at Wake Forest. His work bridges real-world patient care and academic research, bringing a practical understanding of immunotherapy’s effects and patient outcomes.
Dr. Price is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Prevention and Control at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She received her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona and completed her pre-doctoral internship in Behavioral Medicine at the Charleston Consortium. Her research and clinical practice focus on helping patients and their loved ones cope with the challenges of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. She integrates mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy to support health behavior change and emotional well-being.
LiveLung’s educational meetings provide valuable resources and opportunities for lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners to learn, network, and build community. Most meetings feature an expert guest speaker who shares insights to empower attendees.
