 Licensed Psychologist & Director Integrative Medicine at 

“Benefits of Integrative Medicine Techniques for Cancer Symptoms.”

 is a licensed Psychologist and Associate Member of the Supportive Care Medicine Department at Moffitt Cancer Center. She provides outpatient assessment and psychotherapy to help individuals cope with the psychosocial challenges of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. As Director of Moffitt’s Integrative Medicine Service, she oversees the center’s yoga and massage programs and is actively involved in research and education in psychosocial and integrative cancer care.

“Integrative health techniques, such as massage and yoga, can be offered in conjunction with standard cancer care to offer symptom relief and to improve the quality of life of individuals with cancer,” said Dr. Thompson. “When choosing integrative practices, the best practice is to choose techniques that are considered safe, have some scientific evidence to support their use, and are offered by a provider who is appropriately trained.”

Holli Childs, Manager of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Piedmont Augusta

“The Role of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.”

 Holli leads a multidisciplinary team of exercise physiologists, respiratory therapists, and registered nurses dedicated to improving the lives of patients with chronic lung disease. The Piedmont Augusta Pulmonary Rehabilitation team provides individualized exercise training, education, and support to help patients breathe easier, increase endurance, and regain confidence in daily activities.

“Pulmonary rehabilitation is more than exercise—it’s about restoring hope and independence. Watching patients walk back into our program smiling, breathing easier, and living fuller lives reminds us why this work matters so deeply,” said Childs.

Childs and her team take pride in creating a compassionate, motivating environment where progress—no matter how small—is celebrated. Together, they strive to empower every participant to take an active role in their health and quality of life.

 is an Greensboro native and two-time Tar Heel, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science and a master’s in Exercise Physiology, where he developed a special interest in exercise oncology. Mike earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Winston-Salem State University and is passionate about oncology rehabilitation—helping individuals regain strength, confidence, and the ability to return to the activities they love.

“No matter the stage, the treatment involved, nor the demographic, tailored physical activity and supervised rehabilitation with a rehab specialist in cancer has been shown to have positive impacts on physical and mental performance and overall quality of life,” says Bass.
