Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss, best known for his time as a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, has shared an update about his cancer journey.
Moss, 47, announced in Dec., 2024, that he was undergoing radiation and chemotherapy following surgery where a cancerous mass was found in his bile duct.
On Feb. 6, Moss appeared virtually at the 2025 NFL Honors and provided attendees with his latest news.
“Good evening everybody. How y’all doing? It is great to talk to you tonight,” Moss said in livestream footage during the ceremony, which took place in New Orleans, according to a report from Us Weekly. “I’m sorry I could not be there in person to join you all, but I want to send a special thank you to all of my doctors, my beautiful wife, my children, my family, my teammates and all the prayer warriors out there. We are Mossing cancer, and I cannot wait to get back on television with all my guys.”
Moss, according to The Associated Press, took time away from his work as an analyst on “Sunday NFL Countdown” on ESPN starting Dec. 6, 2024.
“Squid Game” Actress Died of Stomach Cancer Complications
Korean actress Lee Joo Sil, who co-starred as Park Mal Soon in the second season of the Netflix hit series “Squid Game,” died on Feb. 2 at the age of 80, according to “The Hollywood Reporter”.
Joo Sil died of complications following a November 2024 diagnosis of stomach cancer, her talent agency, 1230Culture, confirmed to the publication.
Joo Sil, who has worked in theater and television since 1965, also appeared in the hit 2016 horror film “Train to Busan”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Korean media outlets reported Joo Sil to have also been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993.
Cancer-Free, Dick Vitale Returning to College Basketball Broadcasting
Legendary college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale will be calling his first game in nearly two years this weekend, now that the storied personality has been deemed cancer-free.
Vitale will be heard during the Feb. 8 game between Duke and Clemson, airing 6 p.m. EST on ESPN, the network reported on its website.
Now 85, Vitale has faced four different types of cancer in the last three and a half years, most recently undergoing surgery in the summer of 2024 after a biopsy of a lymph node in his neck showed cancer, ESPN reported.
Vitale announced in December that he was cancer-free following a scan of a lymph node in his neck, and said in January that he had been given the all-clear to return to work courtside.
Soccer Star Kirian Rodriguez’s Lymphoma Has Returned
Kirian Rodriguez, midfielder for the Las Palmas soccer club, will be out of action for six months due to a recurrence of Hodgkin lymphoma, The Associated Press has reported. Rodriguez, 28, previously stepped away from the field for six months approximately two years ago to undergo chemotherapy, and he announced on Feb. 6 that his cancer had returned, and he would have to undergo further chemotherapy.
“I have the disease again and I’ll have to stop to fight against it,” he said according to “The Associated Press”. “I hope to see you again in the 2025/2026 season.”
Former Major League Baseball Commissioner Fay Vincent Died
Fay Vincent, who served as the commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1989 to 1992, died on Feb. 1 at the age of 86, according to a report from CBS News.
Vincent’s wife, Christina, said that he had undergone radiation and chemotherapy for bladder cancer and had developed complications, including bleeding, eventually asking for treatments to be stopped, according to CBS News.
"Fay Vincent played a vital role in ensuring that the 1989 Bay Area World Series resumed responsibly following the earthquake prior to Game Three, and he oversaw the process that resulted in the 1993 National League expansion to Denver and Miami," current MLB commissioner Robert Manfred said in a statement to CBS News, the outlet reported.
"Mr. Vincent served the game during a time of many challenges, and he remained proud of his association with our National Pastime throughout his life. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest condolences to Fay's family and friends," Manfred said.
