A Patient's Cancer Positionality

March 3, 2024

There's irony in a healing place for a patient's cancer positionality.

Positionality

A bald woman in a face mask

Being wheeled through the hospital corridor

The doctor thinks metastasis, final stage

A nurse tries to protect and cover

Her exposure

A stranger buying get-well cards

Sees the irony in this healing place.

A bald woman in a face mask

Passes the hospital gift shop

In a wheelchair that her granddaughter

Is strongly pushing:

Neither of them is thinking

Of Death today.
