As Teddi Mellencamp reveals more about her cancer diagnosis and Shannen Doherty receives a standing ovation after her stage 4 cancer diagnosis, here’s what is happening in the oncology space this week.

Khloe Kardashian discussed her cancer experience.

Khloe Kardashian recently discussed her recovery since her skin cancer diagnosis after posting photos on Instagram this past Tuesday of the mark on her face from a melanoma tumor. The tumor was removed last October, according to ABC News.

At first, Kardashian thought that the mark was a pimple, but soon found out that it was melanoma.

An indentation to reshape her cheek was completed nine months after her diagnosis. "I'm just so happy that my face is finally coming back together," Kardashian wrote on her Instagram.

Kardashian wants to remind everyone to check up on their skin and to receive a check up by their dermatologist often.

"I never imagined that this tiny spec would turn into skin cancer and I can't fathom what could have possibly happened had I not gone to the doctor to get it looked at," she wrote. "Paying attention to our skin and changes in our skin and our body, no matter how small, is so important."

Sherry Pollex, girlfriend of NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr., died from cancer.

Sherry Pollex, girlfriend of Martin Truex Jr., NSACAR Cup Series figure, died this past Sunday from cancer. Pollex was 44 years old and died from ovarian cancer — a diagnosis she received in 2014.

"Although there are no words to express our sadness, we take solace in the fact that Sherry is no longer suffering and has been taken back in the arms of the Lord," read a statement by the Pollex family, according to CBS. "As we all know, Sherry lived her life to the fullest, as she influenced thousands, if not millions of people through her own personal journey. Her love for her family, Catwalk kids who she adored, and her friends will last forever.

Pollex was the daughter of Greg Pollex, who was a NASCAR car owner and winner of the 2000 championship with his PPC Racing team.

Pollex met Truex when she was working with public relations within the racing industry and they began dating in 2005, spending 18 years together before they broke up at the beginning of the 2023 season.

Alongside helping cancer causes through the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, which was specific to childhood cancer, Pollex founded the SherryStrong.org to aid women in searching for ovarian cancer treatment options. Pollex also has a clinic called the Sherry Strong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"I often wonder if that's my purpose here. It's maybe not what I would have chosen for myself — nobody really wants to be the poster child for any type of cancer — but maybe I'm supposed to go through all this so I can pave the way for other women,” Pollex told “The Athletic” in July 2022.

Kassie DePaiva, soap star, announced her breast cancer diagnosis after leukemia diagnosis.

“Days of Our Lives”soap star Kassie DePaiva revealed on the “Dishing with Digest” podcast that she has received news of a possible cancer diagnosis a year after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2016.

“I went to a country jamboree up at Hunter Mountain and I’m sitting on a chair lift… I feel under my arm, I go, ‘That’s weird.’ I felt two knots. So I thought, ‘Hmmm.’ And they weren’t painful. I know I didn’t feel bad, nothing,” DePaiva explained, according to PEOPLE.

She continued, “I called and set up an appointment with my doctor and said, ‘OK, coming back in July. Can you fit me in because I have these little knots? I just want to make sure everything’s okay.’ Well, did a biopsy, and you know the rest is history.”

DePaiva received a breast cancer diagnosis just a year later and is now cancer free since her last lumpectomy.

The actress discussed her leukemia diagnosis in 2016 on her blog, discussing how she spent about six weeks in the hospital.

"I have amazing prayer warriors, family, and friends that have been extremely supportive," she wrote at the time. "Although I'm unable to be 'camera ready' now...my goal is (to) get back to stirring up trouble in Salem soon.”

Teddi Mellencamp, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, revealed more about her melanoma diagnosis.

Teddi Mellencamp, known for her role on the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” shared a video on Instagram discussing her experience with melanoma. Movement was one of the main factors that helped her through her diagnosis, she explains as she went for a run.

“Even on your toughest days, movement will help get you through it,” she said. “I’ve been running the gamut of emotions since my latest melanoma diagnosis — and yes, there are moments I just want to stay in bed and ignore the world. But the world still turns no matter what, so getting out there and moving my body, releasing my emotions, fixing my mindset— that’s the key.”

Mellencamp, 42, explained how staying active allows her to “let things go,” as her diagnosis hasn’t been easy.

“I’m all for positive manifestation, what you believe you can achieve, all that. But I’m also about having the hard conversations with ourselves,” she said in the video. “And I’m just thinking about all the things I can't control — that I was turned down for life insurance or I haven’t written a last will and testament.”

Motivating others to get checked for skin cancer was important to Mellencamp, as she decided to share an image of when her melanoma was found to raise awareness.

“I am so grateful for my three-month checkup because we caught this one early. This means another surgery next week and additional biopsies,” she said. “As I lay here with tears in my eyes and worry, I know my kids will be up soon. I have a podcast at 10. Life goes on. I am also reminded of my faith and the reminder I keep telling myself, ‘We can do hard things.’ We have so many beautiful things to look forward to.”

Shannen Doherty, “Beverly Hills 90210” actress, received 90s Con standing ovation.

The cast of Beverly Hills 90210 reunited at this year’s 90s Con in Florida this past weekend. Shannen Doherty received a standing ovation at the end of her panel event.

“Thank you so much,” Doherty said. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.”

Doherty, 52, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later. In 2020, she has discovered that her breast cancer had spread and became stage 4 cancer.

In June, Doherty announced that the cancer has expanded to her brain, posting a video of her undergoing radiation, according to Entertainment Weekly.
