'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek Dies After Receiving Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer

Legendary “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek died on Sunday after receiving a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March 2019. He was 80.
Alex Trebek, the long-time host of the popular game show “Jeopardy!”, died on Sunday at the age of 80.
In March 2019, Trebek announced he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” Trebek said at the time in a video posted to YouTube announcing his diagnosis. “And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
At the time, Trebek noted that he had only a 7% chance of surviving a second year with pancreatic cancer but said he hoped to be able to make it to that milestone.
The official Twitter account for “Jeopardy!” acknowledged his death and tweeted that it was “saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex.”
