Human papillomavirus infections in female teenagers have decreased by more than half since the introduction of HPV vaccines.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections have skyrocketed during the past 20 years, yet among female teenagers, the number of HPV infections has decreased by 56 percent since the introduction of an HPV vaccine in 2006. Experts hope the decrease in infections will ultimately result in a decrease of HPV-related cancers, including anal, cervical, certain head and neck, penile and vulvar cancers.
