On this episode of the “Cancer Horizons” podcast, a man explains how his late wife’s breast cancer diagnosis changed his life and his understanding of the disease.
Before Rick Baker’s wife, Becky, was diagnosed with breast cancer, the only thing he thought of when he heard the disease was NFL players wearing pink cleats in October. However, he quickly became an expert as his wife underwent treatment and eventually died as a result of her cancer.
In this episode of the “Cancer Horizons” podcast, Baker explains the motivation he had behind writing his book, “The Guy’s Guide to Everything Breast Cancer,” and why he wants men to play an active role in the prevention and screening of breast cancer.
“I want guys to understand what breast cancer is, so we can look for this in our wives or girlfriends, or whoever it may be,” Baker said. “Because so many women don't go – they're afraid. (That’s) the main reason why, you know, they're afraid. So that was the reason I wrote it.”
