FIRST Publicly Available Desmoid Tumor Immortal Cell Line

June 2, 2023

Advocacy Groups | Rare Cancer Research Foundation

We are thrilled to announce that through our partnership with The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF), the FIRST publicly available desmoid tumor immortal cell line (HCM-BROD-0762-C49), has been generated and is available to researchers worldwide through ATCC. Discounted pricing is available to academic researchers.

Cell lines, or living models, are critical for researchers to learn more about the disease and in testing new therapeutic options. The availability of this cell line is an initial, but very significant milestone as we work to provide verified and standardized resources to our research community.

We thank all of our patients who have consented to donate tissue through RCRF’s initiative, Pattern.org, as you are instrumental in helping expedite the development of improved therapies to ultimately help find a cure. If you have an upcoming surgery and would like to donate, please go to Pattern.org to learn more.

We continue to support research initiatives such as the development of cell lines at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and the Koch Institute at MIT to place these critical resources in the public domain to enable easy access to those working to find a cure for desmoid tumors and other rare cancers.
