PLAINSBORO, N.J. (May 24, 2016) — In recognition of the annual National Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, CURE Media Group, the nation’s leading consumer digital and print media enterprise focused entirely on patients with cancer, has unveiled a CURE Connections® skin cancer video series designed to help educate viewers on strategies for prevention, early detection and treatment of skin cancers such as melanoma.
In this skin cancer video series, CURE Connections host and highly respected medical correspondent Dr. Philippa Cheetham discusses various concerns of those at risk for, or those currently affected by, skin cancer with medical oncologist, and expert in treating melanoma, Michael Postow, MD, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Additionally, CURE Connections recognizes skin cancer’s effects on both the patient and family. Viewers can also hear first-hand experiences and insight from patient Michael Lawrence, and how patient advocates Samantha Guild from AIM at Melanoma, and Jack and Cara Biggane from Mollie’s Fund, coped with the loss of a family member affected by melanoma.
“With our skin cancer video series, we hope to encourage people to understand their risks and learn how to lessen their chances for developing any skin cancer or melanoma, an often aggressive form of cancer that can become highly lethal it its advanced stages,” said Dr. Cheetham. “It’s extremely important to have regular checkups to monitor for skin irregularities that could be cancerous.”
Mike Hennessy Jr., president of CURE Media Group, added, ““CURE Connections is committed to advancing cancer prevention and care through a broad range of educational, research and communications services for the oncology community, and patients and families affected by it. This video series educates viewers about skin cancers such as melanoma, provides personal insights about disease management, and shares resources to learn more about prevention, early detection and treatment of skin cancers.”
