CancerCare® and blend.works have teamed up to make finding a clinical trial easier for people living with cancer, launching myTRIAList today at mytrialist.org. myTRIAList is a resource website and trial finder that aims to empower those with cancer and their loved ones with the tools necessary to navigate the challenges of cancer clinical trials.
The background:
Only 5% of cancer patients enroll in clinical trials. Clinical trials help to find better ways to diagnose, prevent, and treat cancer. Empowering patients with the information they need, in clear language, helps them to make informed decisions about their options. Increasing the percentage of participants who enroll in clinical trials may lead to better treatment options for everyone.
“We’re really excited to take the heavy science and make it simple with plain-language, with the goal of making this information easier for people to understand,” said Christine Verini, RPh, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, CancerCare.
Clinical trials are not available to 50% of people with cancer at their current treatment location. The myTRIAList Trial Finder displays clinical trials by geographical distance in any U.S.-based location, providing patients with the nearest options.
Lisa Hefner, SVP, Client Solutions, blend.works, says, "Enrolling in clinical trials could not only help the patients that enroll, but also impact treatment options and care for future patients. We want to make it easier for people living with cancer to be informed and to easily locate trials near them, ultimately, breaking down barriers of clinical trial enrollment.”
