After reading the book, &quot;The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,&quot; my mother commented that some cancer cells look like pearls. After experiencing tongue cancer and 3 years later, breast cancer, this is what inspired me to make Catrina. I am very interested in the scientific aspects of cancer and this piece reflects that. You could say it is the anthropomorphism of cancer.
