These are wallflowers growing out of the ashes of a recent wildfire. I painted them to show there can be a life after cancer.

While waiting for the diagnosis and confirmation of breast cancer, I began to keep a sketch journal. This is the first in that journal &mdash; it is an image that kept coming to me. It begged to be on paper. I find it uplifting and it gave me the hope and faith that I needed to face each day. It is made with markers on handmade paper.

A Brighter Day Ahead

My dear plastic surgeon hosts a free bra art therapy workshop for breast cancer patients. I made this the first year I was diagnosed. It is in memory of my two dear younger cousins (sisters) who lost their battles with breast cancer in their thirties.
