This is a sharpie drawing of my original tumor before it metastasized.

My husband has multiple myeloma. I painted this bird with watercolor and colored pencil. I use photographs and greenery from our yard as inspiration. My husband is doing well. He encourages me to keep creating art during his ongoing chemotherapy, so I do.

Birds make me happy!

Living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, I sometimes find it really difficult to accept my situation. For me, emotions aren&#39;t a linear thing but more of a back and forth dance. Some days are more hopeful than others, and I do find that people can not be that understanding when I seem to be &quot;fine&quot; one day but not the next. This is another mixed media piece where I&#39;m &quot;in costume, performing&quot; and being what others need me to be so they can be more comfortable. I must work on greater authenticity every day.
